Travel & Logistics

We’re so excited to see you in Argentina!

As part of your travel planning, we highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance that covers your booking for unforeseen events and interruptions, of your trip. We also suggest purchasing refundable fights or flight protection.

Arrival in Mendoza

Be sure to set your clocks—in Argentina, you’re on Argentina Standard Time, which is -3 hours behind GMT / UTC.

Trip Start

We will meet at 9:30am in Mendoza, Argentina, on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at The Diplomatic Hotel (Avenida Belgrano 1041 Cuidad, Mendoza, tel. +54 261 405-1900), in Mendoza's city center. Note that we are not staying at The Diplomatic Hotel, it is simply our meeting point.

Arrival Airport

We recommend flying into Governor Francisco Gabrielli International Airport (MDZ) in Mendoza, Argentina. There are a handful of direct flights to MDZ from Lima (3hrs 50 min), Sao Paulo (3hrs 25min) and Panama City (6hr 45min). More common is a one-way flight from Buenos Aires (2hrs)m, which operate frequently. Buenos Aires itself has direct connections from Miami (9hr), Atlanta (10hr 20min), Dallas (11hr 15min), and New York JFK (10hr 50min).

We recommend arriving in Argentina at least one full day prior to the start of your trip in the case of unforeseen circumstances or travel delays. For information on where to stay, see the following Pre-Arrival Accommodations section.

Transfer from Airport

Private transportation is available from MDZ airport to our meeting point at The Diplomatic Hotel, and can be arranged no more than 30 days ahead of your arrival. Contact the concierge desk directly at The Diplomatic Hotel.

Alternatively, you can organize your own remis (driver) upon arrival at MDZ airport. The remis system is safe and reliable, and every driver is registered. Remises have a set price for every destination, but be sure to agree to the rate before you leave. If you’re heading to central Mendoza, the cost is US$20 - $25 for the 25-minute ride from the airport.

Pre-Arrival Accommodations

We stay in unique, in-demand hotels on this trip—rooms go fast and daily rates change frequently. If you plan to arrive in Mendoza prior to the beginning of our journey, we recommend staying at The Diplomatic Hotel, which is also our meeting spot on Day One. Please contact the hotel directly to book. If there is no availability at the Diplomatic Hotel, we recommend staying at Sheraton Mendoza Hotel, Huentala Hotel, or Hotel NH Mendoza.

If you plan to spend a few nights in Buenos Aires prior to our trip start, we recommend the Mine Hotel, a modern boutique hotel in the artsy Palermo Soho neighborhood; and the Hub Porteño, an intimate 11-room boutique hotel in the Recoleta neighborhood.

Departure from Buenos Aires

We end our trip—after a week of exploration, connection, and delicious food and wine—at the Alvear Palace hotel in Buenos Aires on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

Departure Airport

We recommend booking your outbound flights from Buenos Aires' Ezeiza International Airport (EZE). This is a different airport from the one we begin at, so make sure to book your outbound flights correctly.

Transfer to Airport

After the mosaic workshop on our last day, Modern Adventure will provide a complimentary transfer to Buenos Aires’ EZE airport. If you would like to join this transfer, your flight home should depart from EZE at 3:30pm or later.

Please note: If you book a flight that leaves earlier than 3:30pm, or if you are planning on extending your time in Argentina, it is your responsibility to arrange alternative transportation from Alvear Palace to the airport.

Post-Trip Accommodations

We hope you have the opportunity to extend your stay in Buenos Aires. If so, we recommend staying at the Alvear Palace (see Our Accommodations). Please note that any post-trip accommodations are your responsibility to book. If there is no availability at the Alvear Palace, see our additional recommendations in the Pre-Arrival Accommodations section.
